Girls Are P.e.a.r.ls (GAP) Mentoring Program

Girls Are Pearls (GAP) Mentoring Program was established in January 2023 after years of planning. GAP is a program sponsored by the Woman Centered 4 Success, Inc.  The Women Centered 4 Success is a not-for-profit organization focused on transforming the lives of women through our Life Coaching and community outreach services. Through the partnership with the Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Emanuel P. Johnson Community Center, GAP will have a space to meet once per week, and on occasion have special events.

Vision: As P.e.a.r.ls, the girls are to be Positive, Encouraging, And Respectful ladies.

Mission: The GAP Mentoring Program was developed to promote the mental well-being in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable, at-risk women and girls.   Girls will receive academic support, mental health and social growth education to develop skills that will empower them to be productive and successful in the community.

Many of the diverse contributors participating in this program are from various career backgrounds to include, current or former school administrators, life coaches, mentors, and retired military; all dedicated to the success and well-being of the girls we serve.

GAP is a weekly program where girls in 5th through 8th grades from the Tampa Bay, Florida communities are given opportunities to improve their academics, mental health, and social skills to prepare them for their middle and high school experiences.  In addition, GAP will address the whole student in other areas such as verbal and nonverbal communication, money matters, health wellness (physical and mental), and career choices.  These classes will be conducted by experienced professionals who are committed to investing in the lives of our girls. All adults interacting with the young ladies will have a current background clearance.

The requirements for enrollment are:

  • A girl student in grades 5-8.

  • An application expressing a willingness to fully attend and participate in all classes and activities.

  • A referral by school administrator or teacher.

  • Have a parent or care giver as an active participant to help the young lady succeed.

The program will provide services for up to 30 students in 8-week intervals and during the summer breaks. The is no fee for the girls who are enrolled.
